This painting was a demo I did for a workshop at the Rustic Table in Emigrant Gap California. This place is part of the ministry of Teen Challenge Monterrey. The elevation is about 5000' and they tell of a bear that found their outdoor freezer and had a feast. This spot has beautiful aspens around it so I am sure I have spotted that hungry bear and put her and her cub in this watercolor.
Dutch Flat watercolor artist and teacher, Joan Chlarson, has been painting scenes of historical California especially Placer County since 1990. Her work has won numerous awards and she is a member of California Watercolor Association, National Watercolor Society, Watercolor West, and Placer County Arts. some of her works have been licensed for cards and gifts for various organizations.
